Incredible work, Ducks.
"Humanity is unequivocally facing a climate emergency. The scale of untold human suffering, already immense, is rapidly growing with the escalating number of climate-related disasters. Therefore, we urge scientists, citizens, and world leaders to read this Special Report and quickly take the necessary actions to avoid the worst effects of climate change."Please vote for leaders who take our climate emergency seriously. We need large collective actions to help make environmental stress easier for people.
“These compounds can be taken orally and have a long history of safe use in humans,” van Breemen said. “They have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2. CBDA and CBGA are produced by the hemp plant as precursors to CBD and CBG, which are familiar to many consumers. However, they are different from the acids and are not contained in hemp products.”Hemp products produced in a slightly different way might help fight covid. I learned to fight covid watching you!
Oregon State’s online Ecampus program has seen a substantial increase — 14% this fall on top of an 18% increase last year.Nice to see this positive news. I’ve been very fortunate to work at Oregon State Ecampus for the last five years. Ecampus is a dedicated group of people working hard to support remote students and help OSU faculty deliver existing programs online. I’m obviously biased but it feels like a unique part of the online education world that I’m glad I can contribute to.
"Our students in general have been extremely mindful of health issues and I hope that continues, not only for students but for community members throughout the county."No, the university made the decision to open campus in a pandemic with full knowledge that outbreaks are happening at campuses across the country. They are risking the health of the community and they shouldn’t frame it as up to the students.
“Changing this name is overdue,” Ray said. “While not intended as reference to the actual Civil War, OSU sports competition should not provide any misconstrued reference to this divisive episode in American history. That we did not act before to change the name was a mistake.”Happy to see that OSU and UO are willing to examine their traditions and make changes to make them more inclusive.
"The Corvallis study will be completed over four consecutive weekends and will provide important public health information that has been lacking throughout the pandemic. A limited pilot phase of the study in several Corvallis neighborhoods will be conducted Sunday, April 19, to test procedures the study will use in gathering and testing samples."OSU is doing some randomized testing study to see how much covid-19 has spread in Corvallis.
“This is a really dire situation statewide and I was really impressed by how OSU responded,” said Mike Bamberger, Oregon State University’s emergency preparedness manager. “We gathered everything from a single box of gloves to a pallet of them. University programs really stepped up at a time of great need.”Happy to see Oregon State contributing resources like this!
"The Oregon Health Authority had recommended against closing campuses where cases of COVID-19 are not present. But Oregon has conducted limited testing for the virus, creating a misleading picture of the virus’s community spread. Not everyone who has wanted to be tested has been."The right call.
