That's odd. Why don't any versions of RSS have an element (or attribute) for the date/time an item was posted? Time is key to weblogs.

version 1.0 does, just include the dublin core namespace, and you can use the date element.

dublin core: http://www.purl.org/dc/

look in my feed for an example:

I don't use the date element in items although I should, but I do use it elsewhere.
Thanks for the info, Eric. Most folks are still using 0.91, though, and adding the time for each item isn't as simple. (Though you could probably add a rogue "timestamp" attribute to the item elements without breaking current aggregators.)
I've also seen many folks use the pubDate element for each item. Just as an addition.

For example, see Mr Winer's RSS 0.94 feed here: http://www.scripting.com/rss.xml
